Latest news : Mamelodi Sundowns lifted the league title

JOHANNESBURG – Big spenders Mamelodi Sundowns are the indubitable reigning monarchs of the South African football .They lifted the league title for the ninth time in the Premier Soccer League unprecedented epoch on Saturday.

The Brazilians as they are affectionately known by their adoring acolytes are dominating to an intractable magnitude and making history in South Africa,African football and globally. All the fruitful successes are made under their tactical acumen mentor Pitso ‘Jingles’Mosimane who arrived at the club in 2012,so far so good he has won four league titles ,the CAF Champions League,Nedbank Cup,CAF Super Cup and the Telkom Knockout.Adding to that Pitso’s CV and his credentials are now rich.

On Saturday when the season culminated and reached its grand finale Downs ripped the relegated Free State Stars into shreds with a 1-0 victory through Phakamani Mahlambi’s goal in Bethlehem at Goble park stadium. Its been a long and an arduous season for Downs that had two Champions League campaigns. After losing Khama Billiat and Percy Tau at the same time but they still won the PSL title ,what a superb performance they displayed.

The club president and mining-magnet billionaire owner Patrice Motsepe according to Sowetan LIVE recapitulated that he reminisce and wants Pitso to become the Sir Alex Ferguson of the Chloorkop based big spending outfit.”I have said that I want Pitso to be the Alex Ferguson of Mamelodi Sundowns and that means I want to keep him as long as he wants to be here,”he retorted.”But at the same time ,I also want to see him grow because can you imagine for example if he were to coach one of the European clubs or even our national team.”

Sundowns are renowned for their colossal spending when it comes to buying quality players and their ‘shoeshine and piano’ style of play which was initiated many years back by Screamer Tshabalala the former Sundowns coach .”Pitso is black,he is African .he is South African and he is one of us ,you have to feel a sense of unique pride,” commented and complimented the affluent-owner of Sundowns according to Sowetan LIVE.
